Quote #29

The Bible: “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.” – 1 Timothy 2:11-15

  1. For the 30 years I was a Christian, I never once heard that verse at any church I attended. I’m not sure what would have happened if someone did a sermon on it. I already knew people who didn’t like the “wives submit to your husbands” verse, so this probably would have had some walking out. I wonder how many Christians actually know this verse is in there because before I started doing critical research on the Bible, I didn’t know it existed. And from statistics I’ve seen, not many Christians have actually read the whole Bible.

    • It’s not like they can dismiss it (and others like it) by saying it’s from the Old Testament and therefore can be ignored (like they do with so many others).

  2. True, I hadn’t even noticed that. I always think it’s selfish for people to say we should ignore the old testament because if you lived during that time and the Bible was true, you wouldn’t think it was fair to live in that type of society. Plus the fact that so many want to ignore it shows how bad they really think it is.
I just got mad at something…I think I’ll go kill a bird to make up for it.
