It will yet be the proud boast of women that they never contributed a line to the Bible.

  1. No surprise considering 1 Corinthians 14:

“Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.”

During my teens I attended a church that took this verse (and others like it) very seriously. Women were not allowed to pray or speak as part of the service. They were only allowed to teach other women or children. They had to wear head coverings (veils).

Guess I’m breaking those rules now! lol

      • Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that. I remember when I read that verse I was extremely confused. I wondered how all of these female preachers reconciled this with what they were doing. Of course, you can find the normal apologetic stuff that says it’s a context thing for when women were causing trouble during services, but the meaning seems clear to me. I’m honestly shocked that you had a church that took that literally and acted upon it. Most modern churches would bury that verse and never talk about it cause they’d lose revenue from lost female church mumbers.
